Partners and supporters
DWF works in partnership with local artisans and builders, community based organisations, local and national government, and international agencies. As a relatively small organisation, partnership is important, and it enables DWF to scale up the impact of its projects and lessons learned from successful projects. For example, DW collaborates with the Association of Vietnamese Cities to spread the message of the DWF programme in Viet Nam; in the Sahel DWF has encouraged and trained partners such as PAB (Promotion de l’Artisanat Burkinabè) to integrate woodless construction into their activities, and the Woodless Construction Project in Niger. Study visits are another important form of partnership. In 2009 DWF and the Building and Social Housing Foundation organised a study visit to Vietnam for the DW Prevent Typhoon Damage to Housing project which won the 2008 World Habitat Award (See Awards) (see photo above). In 2009 study visits have been arranged between DWF staff in Vietnam and Save the Children staff in Myanmar.
